Have a question about lake weeds in Wisconsin, or spot something on this site we should fix? We want to hear it. Lake Weed Wisconsin is a publication of Tanner Preserve, a Delafield, Wisconsin company, and we read every message.
What we can help with
- Pointing you to the right rule for your situation (permit or no permit).
- Explaining what a removal method involves and roughly what it costs.
- Fixing any fact or link on the site that’s out of date.
What we can’t do
We can’t issue a permit, approve a treatment, or give you a legal opinion on your shoreline. Those come from the state.
For a permit, contact the Wisconsin DNR
Aquatic plant management permits are handled by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, not by us. Start here:
- DNR Aquatic Plants program
- Email the DNR APM program: DNRAPMProgram@wisconsin.gov
- Permit application forms and your regional APM coordinator
Your county’s regional APM coordinator can tell you whether a spot is in a sensitive area and what your specific lake allows. That local call is worth making before you spend money.
A note on scope
This site is informational. Nothing here is a permit, an approval, or legal advice. Always confirm your specific situation with the DNR before you treat or remove plants beyond the no-permit exemptions.
